SUMMARY:Japanese Tea Garden (Golden Gate Park)
DESCRIPTION:Experience the natural beauty\, tranquility\, and harmony of a Japanese-style garden in the beautiful setting of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park! \nThe Japanese Tea Garden was originally created as a part of the “Japanese Village” exhibit for the 1894 California Midwinter International Exposition\, making it the oldest public Japanese garden in the US. When the fair closed\, Japanese landscape architect Makoto Hagiwara continued to maintain the garden until 1942 when he and his family were interned during World War II. Today\, the Japanese Tea Garden features an arched drum bridge\, pagodas\, stone lanterns\, stepping stone paths\, native Japanese plants\, serene koi ponds\, and a Zen garden. Cherry blossom trees bloom throughout the garden in March and April. \nGeneral Admission: Adults $10\, Seniors (ages 65+ w/ID) and Youth $7\, Children (ages 5-11) $3\, Children (under 5) FREE.
